I am a longtime user of Olivetree’s products, from way back in the Palm Pilot days. I will still use this app regularly. However, there are two complaints about their app. Fix these and I’ll go up to 5 stars.
1. Bring back the bookshelf. Keeping track of my extensive resources is now a pain. It used to be very convenient, as I had the books on the bookshelf sorted in just the order I wanted, so that I could quickly tap on the one I needed. But no more. And Olive Tree’s stated reason for getting rid of the bookshelf is frankly pretty lame. Olive Tree has stated that they made the conscious decision to no longer use a bookshelf because they are going away from skew-morphism, and they said they are going away from skew-morphism because they are following Apple who is leading the way at going away from skew-morphism, but if they had bothered to open up Apple’s iBooks app, they would have seen that lo and behold Apple is still today using a bookshelf in that app—why?—because a bookshelf works and it works very well at organizing books. Don’t claim you are copying Apple by eliminating the bookshelf when you are not copying Apple, because Apple still uses bookshelves for organizing books.
2. Many or most of my resources have tappable text, and that makes toggling the toolbar difficult at times. I have a preference set that if you do a single-finger double tap, that the tool bars will toggle on and off. This setting used to work, even when double-tapping tappable text, but it has not worked for a while. Make single-finger double tapping work again, even over tappable text.
